Services and equipment
General information

Currently the American University of Central Asia is equipped with 340 computers, including workstations and the servers. So, in the computer laboratories of free access for students and the laboratories assigned for conducting laboratory studies there are 110 computers; the computer classroom for instructors is provided with 16 workstations. In addition, there is a multimedia laboratory in the University equipped with 16 workstations, projection, video and audio systems. Also the University has several study auditoriums, equipped with multimedia equipment for conducting presentation lessons. All of the computers are linked to one network that is built on the SCS technology. It enables combined use of internal resources of the University (for example, electronic catalogues of the library) and an access to Internet for every user. The University possesses 2 independent channels of Internet access, the main channel is provided by the Internet provider TOTEL with the speed of 1.5 Mbit/sec., the second Internet provider is Aknet.

The University has several Windows and Unix servers including mail and web-servers, and 2 file servers for defining a workspace for every user. The safety of the information is provided by Backup – a server and a library of tapes.
